Great Spotted Woodpecker (Dendrocopos major)

23-25 cm large woodpecker with striking black-white-red feathers, large white shoulder patches and a bright red rump. The males also have another red patch on the neck. Vigilant and cautious, but visiting feeding places quite often. Breeds in forests, often in parks, as well as in larger gardens with trees.
