Mute Swan (Cygnus olor)
Originally occurring only in Northern and Eastern Europe, the mute swan was naturalized in the last few
centuries in Central Europe as a park bird, but today it is almost wild everywhere. The Mute Swan
has a snow-white plumage, an orange-red beak with a black hump. Young birds are gray-brown and have
a beak with no bumps. Swans are generally silent, only the breeding season you can hear snoring calls,
when threatened a loud aggressive growl.
