Large, dark diving bird with long hooked beak, swims with raised head, often stands with outstretched
wings. They hunt their food (mainly fish) at up to 10m deep diving. In Asia, cormorants are used for
fishing, this they get leashed and a metal ring around their neck, so that they cannot swallow the
captured fish. The living on the Galapagos Islands cormorants have lost their flying ability.
