Common Crane (Grus grus)

Cranes are widespread all over the earth, with the exception of South America, New Zealand and Antarctica. Not only during courtship, group dances are performed, the cranes leap into the air, to loop around each other, bow and call. Cranes live in monogamy with the same partner all their life and are ground-nesting birds. Appearance: Very large, stretched long legs, long neck in flight. Very shy, the crane is mostly visible in large, wedge-shaped squads.
