Middle Spotted Woodpecker (Dendrocopus medius)
Up to 22 cm tall, the heat-loving woodpecker breeds in deciduous
forest with old oak and beech trees, also in alder forest. Nesting often in a rotten trunk,
entrance about 4cm. Only slightly smaller than the Great Spotted Woodpecker, the beak is much
shorter compared, the head is more spherical. The tail pink / light red, the apex of which is
bright red.
