Ruddy Shelduck (Tadorna ferruginea)
The Ruddy Shelduck is referred to as half a goose, because its dabbling characteristic for
ducks and gazing characteristic for geese being attributed. Both sexes are strongly stained
rust-brown or rust-yellow, the fore wings are whitish. The male in breeding plumage wears a
black collar, males are also somewhat heavier than females. The Ruddy Shelduck is mainly spread
in the interior of Asia, breeds in Tibet at altitudes of 5000 meters. They rarely can be found
on the coast.
