Island of Bislich ('Bislicher Insel')
On the "Bislicher Insel" (Island of Bislich) near Xanten are still remains of the old bed of the Lower Rhine
with its typical animal and plant world. This landscape is a nature reserve and one of the largest inland wetlands of Germany.
Various wet-biotopes with typical plant species have been formed, many species of birds find their habitat here. Herons and
cormorants are circling, grebe, water rail, woodpeckers and black-tailed godwits live here. White Storks breed successfully,
Scandinavian and Siberian wild geese have their winter home here.
